INTRODUCTION:
1) The 1st son named Durvasa which is supposed to be an incarnation of Lord Mahesh.
2) The other named Dattatreya from which was an incarnation of lord Vishnu and has the quality of him.
3)The third were the Patanjali who was also known as Somadatta and Chandraatreya and Durvasa,later on both’s qualities got merged into Datta, So dattatreya got the qualities of the three gods. In the mid age Dattatreya constantly wandered or roamed throughout India and collected alms (Bhiksha) and was very kind to his devotees.
It is said that Dattatreya lived on the mountain called Girnar(Gujarat state) and took bath in Kashi(Banaras) and often take rest at Mahurgad.

INCARNATION OF SHRIPAD SHRIVALLABH:
According to the GURUCHARITRA, written in Marathi language. Shripad shrivallabh is the first incarnation of lord Dattatreya.The number of miracles conducted by Shirpad Shrivallabh and shree Narsinha Saraswati is mentioned in this book.As per the aspects he is supposed to live from 1320 AD to 1350 AD. He was born in Pithapuram written in gurucharitra. Later during his mid age, he performed several miracles and helped with the blessings to his devotees. He took Samadhi to fulfil his promise, given to the devotees named Rajak and a widowed women Ambika.SEE FOR DETAILS SHRIPAD SHREE VALLABH.
He decided to lead the large number of devotees from Karavpur (Karnataka) on the path of devotion and took Samadhi on Ashwin Krishna Dwadeshi so according to Datta Samprayada, this day is celebrated as Gurudwashi. Even today the devotees experience the divine presence of Lord Shripad Shreevallabh and even after his Samadhi people could felt his presence when his disciplines are in trouble by performing miracles and providing help to the devotees.

NARASINHA SARASWATI – THE DATTA AVTAR:
Lord Shripad Shreevallabh as per his promised to a widow Brahmin women took birth as her son in the next life and also promised Rajak the washerman to meet him in the next birth so to fulfil his promise Lord shripad shreevallabh took avatar as Narasinha Saraswati. This was the second avatar of Lord Dattatreya.
Shri Narasinha saraswati (1378 - 1458) was initially named as Narahari or Shaligramadeva. His father’s name was Madhav and mother’s name was Amba – Bhavani his surname was Kale. He was born in a deshastha Brahmin family Shukla – yaju
rvedi Brahmin Kanva shaka.
According to Shri GuruCharitra Chapter 11 onwards is the description of life story of Shri Narasinha. After he was born the first words he said was OM which was considered very holy. However until he was 7 he did not utter any other word than Om. So his parents were worried about his speech ability. However he showed by hand gestures that after his Upanayana (Munja or thread ceremony) he will be able to speak. When the munga i.e thread ceremony started chanting veda ascendingly.The second part of his name comes from his guru,who eventually named him Shri Narasinha Saraswati.
After visiting several places he returned to Karanja to meet his parents. It was possibly the age of thirty years that time. After that he further visited various places and finally settled in Gangapur for the last few decades of his life. All of this is reported in Shriguru charitra.Throughout his life he created many miracles and help their devotee. At that time many muslim people as well as muslim king become devotee of him.
After the meeting with the muslim king he thought that his fame has spread to such an extend that now all types of people will start troubling him and his disciplines. Thus he decided to take Samadhi. He left for the jungle of Kardali (a type of tree). Shri Swami Samartha of Akkalkoth who was considered as his avatar is supposed to have come from Karadali van (jungle of kardali). Although the difference between them in few countries. The Data sampradaya people believe that Narasinha Saraswati’s re–incarnated as Swami Samartha of Akkalkoth.

Akkalkoth Niwasi Shri Swami Samartha also known as Swami Samartha Maharaj. Swami Samartha of Akkalkoth is considered by many to be the very form of Shri Nrusinha Saraswati of Gangapur. Ocassionally swami said that he was Nrusinha bhan and that he was from karadali van near Sriailam confirmed that he was Nrusinha Saraswati of Narasinha saraswati. Swami took up numerous names at different places which made it hard to trace his travels. He died in 1878. Throughout his life he also created several miracles to help the poor people and also his devotees .

LIFE OF SHREE SWAMI SAMARTHA:
The early life of Swami Samartha like that of Shri Shirdi Sai baba is shrouded with mysteries.Shri Narasinha Saraswati about four centuries before the event of Swami Samartha is believed to be earlier incarnation of Shri Dattatreya. The GURUCHARITRA one of the most famous books gives lot of information about him. As per the most popular belief Shri Narasinha Saraswati Swami after helping and spiritually uplifting of a large number of people over a few decades went away to karadali van for penance and went to Samadhi.In this Samadhi state he remained for about three hundred years. With the passage of time a huge ant hill grew over him and he was lost to outside world.
One day accidently a woodcutter’s axe fell on the bushes grown around the hill. He was shocked to find the blood stains on the blade of axe. He cleared the ant hill and he found a yogi in meditation. The yogi slowly opened his eyes and consoled the dumb found woodcutter that it was the divine will for him to reappear in the world to resume his mission. This yogi in his new role came to be known as Swami Smartha.In other accounts Shree Narasinha Swami was stated to retreat in the kardali wilderness after which he roamed about in China, Tibet, Nepal and Northern India before setting down to Akkalkoth.
Prior to his settlements at Akkalkoth swami samartha seems to had visited far and wide. While moving in the Himalayan region he visited places like Puri, Banaras , Haridwar, Girnar, Kathiawad and Rameshwaram in the south. He also stayed at Mangalavedha a town near Pandharpur in solapur dist Maharashtra, which had been inhabited earlier by famous saints like Damoji Pant and Chokamala. He came to Akkalkoth in 1856 where he continue his physical existence for 22 years.
He came to Akkalkoth on the invitation of one Chintopant Tol and stayed at a place on the outskirts of the town.
